Mission

AVID Blind Golf was established in October of 2017, in Nashville, Tennessee, by Drs. Chad and Patricia NeSmith along with his mother and father, Brenda and Reid. Among those who have lent their time and energy to helping teach the AVID youngsters golf are Andy Church, a PGA teaching professional; Stuart Shearin, a PGA teaching professional; Dan Sullivan, a PGA teaching professional and Director of Instruction at Topgolf--Nashville; Clarissa Childs, a PGA pro and Women's SC Golf Association executive director; Michael Robertson, a soon-to-be PGA teaching professional, as well as supporter and sponsor, Lisa Bernard, and others.

AVID's goal is to help eliminate the real and artificial barriers for blind and visually impaired children who wish to participate in golf. Both Chad and Patricia have spent most of their lives working with children with disabilities and their families and are passionate about providing them with opportunities that they might not otherwise have.
